With graffiti on a downward trend over the past few years, there’s still some pockets of graffiti that appear and our City’s Public Works Department is quick to remove it.
As a reminder to those that intend to deface public or private property, vandals may face fines of up to $1,000 and six months in jail. If the graffiti damage exceeds $400, the crime will be prosecuted as a felony. Juveniles who are caught and convicted, their parents face fines of up to $1,000 and/or six months in jail plus restitution for all costs incurred for graffiti clean-up, court costs, attorney fees, law enforcement and any rewards paid. Convicted juveniles also risk revocation of their driver’s license or postponement of the issuance of a driver’s license for one year.
