This past December, City Officials joined Deputies from the Pico Rivera Sheriff’s Station to honor fallen Los Angeles County Deputy, Thomas Albanese.
It’s been a year since Deputy Albanese tragically lost his life while on duty. Deputy Thomas J. Albanese, part of the Sheriff’s Motor Unit, was picking up an extra shift at the Lakewood Sheriff’s Station on the morning of February 25. The Deputy was attempting to pull over a vehicle in the City of Lakewood when another vehicle struck his motorcycle.
Unfortunately, Deputy Albanese died instantly as a result of the impact. Station personnel from Lakewood and Pico Rivera, along with their respective communities, mourned the loss of the fallen Deputy. In the weeks that followed, several fundraisers were to help support Deputy Albanese’s family.
To honor Deputy Albanese’s legacy and his commitment as a Los Angeles County Sheriff, City, and Sheriff’s Officials unveiled a memorial bench in his honor. The bench is located in front of the station and will serve as a reminder of the sacrifice and dedication that not only Deputy Albanese exhibited, but the Deputies who continue to serve this community as well.
