Last October, it was reported that the City of Pico Rivera ranked amongst the highest in the least risky Cities. In addition to that, the City was awarded Investment Policy Certification through the California Municipal Treasurers Association. This past December, another accolade was added to the list. The City of Pico Rivera was awarded the Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) Distinguished Budget Presentation Award for the Fiscal Year 2021-2023 Biennial Budget document.

The award demonstrates the City’s commitment to transparency, fiscal responsibility, efficiency, and accountability while ensuring the budget is accessible to the residents. “I’m extremely proud of our financial team and their commitment to fiscal responsibility,” said City Manager Steve Carmona. “These awards are not just plaques or certificates; they demonstrate the City’s efforts to be held accountable and transparent with the City’s finances.”

The GFOA is a professional association serving more than 21,000 government finance professionals throughout North America. In order to receive this award, a governmental unit must publish a budget document that meets program criteria as a policy document, an operations guide, a financial plan, and a communications device. An independent panel of reviewers completed an examination of the budget document and the Budget-in-Brief document and voted to award the documents for the current fiscal period. This award is valid for a period of two years.
